Fitness is defined as the condition of being physically fit and healthy, while performance refers to the ability to perform a specific action or task. Performance and fitness go hand-in-hand, and when focused together, can harness the body’s highest physical potential. Physical therapists not only focus on restoring form and function after an injury, they also specialize in helping athletes and physically active individuals achieve their highest state of physical fitness and performance.
What is Training & Performance?
Training & Performance is a next-level program offered exclusively at REPAIR Sports Institute that is designed to challenge your mind and body. To best meet your health needs and achieve your goals, we offer both group-training and individual packages. We have also perfected the transition from injury to performance training and can help athletes get back in the action.
What is Our Training Focus?
At REPAIR Sports Institute, our training focuses on the following areas:
Balance + Stability — Two essential and fundamental functions, balance and stability are the ability to maintain center of mass, hold sturdy joint positions and resist unwanted weight shifting. The more stable a joint is, the more effective and efficient it can move.
Speed & Quickness — With a focus on decreasing movement time between distances and greatly enhancing reaction and response time, athletes can perform more efficiently and effectively.
Power — Maximizing movement intensity. The ability to apply maximum force very quickly. Power can be considered a combination of force and speed.
Body Composition — Changing the proportion of fat and fat-free mass in the body results in desirable changes in overall health and physical appearance.
Strength — Coordination training with appropriate resistance to move or resist movement of another object, handle body weight, or resist gravity and optimize ground reaction force.
Flexibility & Mobility — Enhances the ability of a muscle, joint or limb to engage in its full spectrum of movement. Leads to more productive and safer movement execution.
Core Strength & Stability — The ability to stabilize and brace is the foundation of all subsequent motion. This develops support for the spinal column in order to move more safely, efficiently, and accurately.
Proprioception & Coordination — Spatial awareness between your body and other objects and fine motor skills to carry out a given task are a vital component to injury prevention.
Agility — Enhances the ability to rapidly change direction in response to external stimuli. Controlling body position to accelerate, decelerate and minimize loss of speed during movement is the basis for agility.
Hypertrophy — Enhances muscle growth, resulting in the development of muscle tone and the associated increase of lean muscle mass.
Endurance & Conditioning — Improves cardiovascular function and/or metabolic function, which, in turn, improves one’s ability to perform. Often results in enhanced body composition and reduces the risk of developing lifestyle-related illnesses and diseases.
